An Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) is an information system for flight deck crew members which allows storing, updating, delivering, displaying, and/or computing digital data to support flight operations or duties.

Types of EFB
There are two possibilities for the hardware of EFB systems: portable and installed.
A portable EFB is a portable EFB host platform, used on the flight deck, which is not part of the certified aircraft configuration and are considered as PEDs.
An EFB host platform installed in the aircraft and considered as an aircraft part, covered, thus, by the aircraft airworthiness approval. The approval of these EFBs is included in the aircraft's type certificate (TC) or in a supplemental type certificate (STC).
Approval of EFBs
The following documents/forms contain useful information related to the aspects of EFB operation and shall assist Part-CAT operators wishing to introduce an EFB system or to modify an existing specific approval for the use of type B EFB applications.
