Reducing aircraft noise

Flying generates noise. The contribution of small aircraft to overall noise pollution is not excessive compared to other sources of noise. Nevertheless, it is important for every individual pilot to behave responsibly in terms of noise abatement and so contribute to public acceptance of flying activities and good relations around airfields and airports.

The present training programme (available only in German or French) offers interested pilots the possibility of familiarising themselves with this complex subject. From the basic acoustics and technical measures through to the operational possibilities, it provides information on all aspects of the creation, propagation, reduction and perception of aircraft noise. Depending on their individual requirements, pilots can work through the various chapters in greater or lesser depth. At the end of the course, there is a little test to confirm what has been learned.
