The main duty of this section is to ensure uniform application of legal provisions and sanctions within the Federal Office of Civil Aviation. It is responsible for the formulation of domestic aviation legislation, and coordinates Switzerland’s involvement in the development of international regulations and standards. It is also responsible for the implementation of international treaties within Switzerland, for adopting EU legislation, concluding bilateral and multilateral agreements, and for the administration of the Swiss Aircraft Register. In addition, it is responsible for regulating security measures, within the scope of which it develops security concepts in coordination with the relevant European authorities.
