Technical agreements

In order to facilate the type-certification, maintenance and operation of aircraft in Switzerland, so-called Bilateral Aviation Safety Agreements (BASA) have been concluded with various countries or cooperation agreements made with aviation authorities. Among other things, these BASA ensure mutual recognition of certifications and licences.

In particular, the additional protocols "Implementation Procedures for Airworthiness" (IPA) and "Maintenance Implementation Procedures (MIP) were negotiated with the FAA within the framework of the BASA. The IPA and the MIP contain guidelines on the following issues. Development, manufacture, maintenance, continuing airworthiness and export of aircraft. If necessary, other areas can be included in the technical cooperation between the participating states.
