Search and Rescue
Search and Rescue (SAR) is the search for persons in danger or immediate distress and the provision of assistance to them.
ICAO Annex 12 requires the States to operate a search and rescue service for civil aircraft on their territory at all times (24 hours a day, 365 days a year). The FOCA provides this service for Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein.
