Definition: Complex aeroplanes
An aeroplane is classified as complex if it belongs to the category of “complex aircraft” because of its construction, size or configuration. Aircraft are classified as “complex” if:
- they have a certified maximum take-off weight exceeding 5,700 kg or
- they have a maximum approved passenger seating configuration of more than 19, or
- they are certified for operation with a crew of at least 2 pilots, or
- they are equipped with one or more jet engines or with more than one turboprop engine.
