EU/EFTA air carriers
In accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1008/2008, foreign air carriers based in member states of the European Union (EU) or the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) do not require a permit for flights between the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland.
A separate application or notification is therefore not necessary.
Important notices:
- For 5th to 7th freedom charter flights between Switzerland and non-member states of the EEA, the conditions governing Non-EU/EFTA air carriers are applicable. A separate application is always required!
- Cabotage flights within Switzerland are not governed by the existing bilateral air services agreements and always require a permit.
