Certain items that are considered dangerous may not be allowed in baggage. Travellers are often not aware of the danger these items may pose.

Electronic devices and replacement batteries
Electronic devices and batteries are classified as dangerous goods because they can generate heat, cause a short circuit and consequently start fires if damaged or handled improperly.

Lighters, matches and gas burners
The item must be carried «on the person» e.g. in the jacket or trouser pocket. It may not be placed in the carry-on baggage. Lighters and matches are forbidden in the checked baggage.

Medicinal and toiletry articles
Medicinal and toiletry articles are generally allowed, with some exceptions.

Explosive and easily flammable substances
Certain substances are considered dangerous goods and may not, or only under restrictions, be carried on flights.

Chemical, corrosive and toxic substances
All substances, which pose a risk of fire, corrosion or the development of toxic gases, are completely forbidden in the checked baggage as well as in the carry-on baggage.
