Fees
The ordinance on the fees of the Federal Office of Civil Aviation (VGZ) regulates fees for services and FOCA decisions in terms of the Aviation Act, the Federal Act on the Aircraft Register and the provisions on their execution.

International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO)
ICAO is a specialized agency of the United Nations (UN) with 193 member states, giving it a truly universal character.
Europäische Zivilluftfahrt Konferenz (ECAC)
Die ECAC wurde im Jahr 1955 auf Initiative des Europarats gegründet. Sie ist gleichzeitig eine unabhängige Regionalorganisation der ICAO. Heute gehören der ECAC 42 Mitgliedstaaten an, darunter auch die Schweiz.
Europäische Agentur für Flugsicherheit (EASA)
Um die Normen und deren Anwendungen in der Luftfahrt zu vereinheitlichen, gründete die EU die Europäische Agentur für Flugsicherheit (EASA). Diese Agentur, an welcher die Schweiz seit 1. Dezember 2006 teilnimmt, übernahm schrittweise die Aufgaben der Joint Aviation Authorities (JAA).
Eurocontrol
Die Eurocontrol wurde im Jahr 1960 ins Leben gerufen mit dem Ziel, die Flugsicherung für alle internationalen Flüge im oberen Luftraum der Mitgliedstaaten sicherzustellen.
Luftverkehrsabkommen
Der Luftverkehrsbereich wird stark von internationalen Beziehungen beeinflusst. Neben multilateralen Abkommen existierten eine Vielzahl von bilateralen Abkommen, welche mit den jeweiligen Staaten separat ausgehandelt wurden. Diese Abkommen präzisieren sowohl die Rechte der jeweiligen Fluggesellschaften, als auch die zu benutzenden Luftstrassen.
Technical agreements
In order to facilate the type-certification, maintenance and operation of aircraft in Switzerland, so-called Bilateral Aviation Safety Agreements (BASA) have been concluded with various countries or cooperation agreements made with aviation authorities. Among other things, these BASA ensure mutual recognition of certifications and licences.
