Modification or extension of an authorization
Holders of an authorisation who wish to modify its scope or extend its period of validity shall submit an application to FOCA. This page describes the procedure to follow, the applicable requirements, and the documents required for the processing of the application.
This webpage is intended for UAS operators who hold an active Operational Authorization issued by FOCA based on a Predefined Risk Assessment (PDRA) or a Specific Operations Risk Assessment (SORA), as well as for operators holding an active Confirmation of Acceptability (CoA) issued by FOCA in accordance with Article 13 of Regulation (EU) 2019/947 for cross-border operations.
Before You Apply
Before submitting an application, operators should consult the flowchart below to determine the appropriate application process based on the nature of the intended changes.
The tool below helps applicants determine the appropriate application pathway. It is provided for guidance purposes only.
Application process
Operators intending to apply for a modification to the scope or a prolongation of the validity of an Operational Authorisation or a Confirmation of Acceptability are invited to follow the steps below:
1. Review the Applicable Guidance
Carefully review the FOCA guidance provided below before preparing your application.
2. Submit the Application
Where a Notice of Modification (NoM) form is required, submit your application using the dedicated form at least one month prior to the intended date of implementation.
Clear marking of revised sections
All amended sections of the documentation must be clearly identified (e.g., by using a distinct colour or a vertical bar in the margin). FOCA reserves the right to return the documentation without assessment if the changes are not clearly indicated and may request a consolidated version incorporating all amendments where necessary.
