FOCA may obtain support from external organisations in relation to drones. The role played by these organisations and how they can take on this role is explained on this page.

Recognised Entities for Practical STS Training

Remote pilots wishing to operate under the European standard scenarios (STS-01 and STS-02) must, among other requirements, demonstrate that they possess the required practical competencies. Recognised entities are responsible for the practical training and assessment of these remote pilots.

• Requirements

  Entities wishing to be recognised by the FOCA for providing practical training and assessment to remote pilots must comply with the requirements set out in Appendix 3 of Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2019/947. They must also meet additional requirements defined in the directive published by FOCA (see below).

• Recognition Application Procedure

  Organisations interested in obtaining recognition must submit their application in writing using the designated form (see below).
  Cost: according to time spent (CHF 160 per hour).

Qualified Entities

FOCA may outsource certain tasks previously performed in house to external qualified entities. To perform tasks as a qualified entity, organisations require specific aviation and drone expertise. This is generally restricted to professional organisations. The specific requirements are individually agreed with the FOCA.
