Recommendations (SAND)
SAND is an acronym for “Safety Awareness Notification Data” used by the Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA) to denote safety-related information that provides instructions and recommendations to the civil aviation community.
In contrast to other, safety-related publications – e.g. airworthiness directives (ADs) – this information and data is of an exclusively informative nature; nevertheless the FOCA considers them to be important enough to be passed on to interested parties and civil aviation operators.
Where available, reference is also made to similar programmes of other national civil aviation authorities.
