The FOCA compiles an annual inventory of greenhouse gas emissions for air traffic originating in Switzerland and passes this data on to the Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN). The figures for air traffic are then incorporated into the Swiss greenhouse gas inventory. In addition, national legislation requires the FOEN to publish an estimate of the overall climate impact of aviation.
