Commercial helicopter operations and some non-commercial flights are subject to a licensing requirement and supervision by the federal authorities.
This section contains all relevant information for commercial helicopter operations, and encompasses aerial work, night operations, non-commercial operations and the corresponding legal bases.
Definition: Complex Helicopter
A helicopter is considered complex if it meets at least one of the following criteria:
- certificated for a maximum take-off mass exceeding 3 175 kg; or,
- certificated for a maximum passenger seating configuration of more than nine; or,
- certificated for operation with a minimum crew of two pilots.
If the aircraft does not meet any of the above criteria, it is considered non-complex.
