Swiss training organisations wishing to train and test maintenance personnel require a licence from the Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA).

Based on the European regulations applicable in Switzerland, the responsible FOCA inspectors authorise training companies for maintenance personnel.
Some organisations offer basic training, type training or a combination of both.
The legal requirements can be found in Regulation (EU) 1321/2014 Annex IV Part 147.
