This section supervises airports and airfields, primarily focusing on aviation safety. It ensures that all relevant safety regulations are complied with relating to the construction and operation of airports. It also assesses buildings and other objects in terms of their relevance as obstacles to aviation safety, and issues the corresponding permits (if necessary, with attached conditions). It issues bulletins to inform aircraft crews about the existence of all such obstacles, keeps and constantly updates a map showing the danger areas for each airport, and maintains a detailed airports/airfields database.
