This section is responsible for all aspects of safety risk management, and is directly answerable to the Director General. It supports and advises the latter in the co-ordination and control of all safety-related aspects of the activities of FOCA. Its numerous duties include recording and analysing occurrences of relevance to safety, and passing on recommendations to the FOCA management board and/or divisions. SRM is also responsible for managing the Swiss Safety Programme (SSP).
It also maintains and constantly updates a risk database and co-ordinates risk assessment in all areas (aircraft, flight operations, infrastructure). Furthermore, it functions as a co-ordination office for contacts with the Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accidents Investigation and the aviation safety officer at the Department of Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications (DETEC).
