The FOCA appoints examiners, trains them and supervises their activities. Examiners have the duty of ensuring that pilots meet and comply with the relevant national and international training requirements.

CPL Skill test with Medical Class 1 only
In order to conduct a CPL skill test, we previously accepted examiners with the CPL examiner privilege, regardless of whether a valid Medical Class 1 was also held at the time of the examination.
After we received various feedback from other EASA authorities about rejections of CPL skill tests conducted by CH examiners without a valid Medical Class 1, we felt compelled to have this clarified by EASA.
According to FCL.1000 (a)(1), the following applies:
[…] hold, unless otherwise determined in this Annex, an equivalent licence, rating or certificate to the ones for which they are authorised to conduct skill tests, proficiency checks or assessments of competence and the privilege to instruct for them[…]
EASA unequivocally interprets "certificate" as a medical.
As a result, the previous “modus vivendi” in Switzerland will be adapted accordingly with immediate effect and CPL skill tests will only be permitted by examiners with a valid Medical Class 1
