Persons working in the aviation industry who certify the maintenance, repair and inspection of aircraft and components require a licence to do so. The licence is either issued by the FOCA or is recognised under international agreements.

Maintenance work on aircraft that is not covered by the EU Regulation establishing common rules in the field of civil aviation and its implementing provisions (non-EASA aircraft) continues to be subject to national regulations.

National licence: In areas that are not covered by the EU regulations or which are not otherwise regulated by the EU, national certificates exist for specialists in:

  • Sheet Metal work
  • Composite work
  • Wood/fabric work
  • Work on mechanical and electrical components

These are based on the Ordinance on Aircraft Maintenance Personnel (AMPO; SR 748.127.2) and the applicable guidelines (service bulletins).
