Switzerland is honored to present its candidature to a seat on the ICAO Council, Part II, for the 2025–2028 term as part of the Abis rotation group and looks forward to continuing its active contribution to the advancement of international civil aviation.
Switzerland's key committments
If elected at the ICAO Council, Switzerland will pursue three main ambitions:
- Securing the future aviation workforce
Switzerland is committed to identifying, in collaboration with Contracting States and the aviation industry, the skillsets required of future aviation professionals, while advocating for representation from various backgrounds.
- Strengthening the resilience of the aviation system
Switzerland is committed to enhancing international cooperation and promoting structured coordination mechanisms with a view to managing global crises affecting aviation, improving risk management systems and supporting the development of global procedures aimed at minimizing air traffic disruptions.
- Promoting a sustainable aviation future
Switzerland is committed to harnessing emerging technologies, particularly those to produce Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF), and developing an innovation-friendly regulatory framework whilst promoting knowledge-transfer and investments necessary to foster a sustainable aviation sector.
