  • with reduced mobility
  • in wheelchairs
  • with orientation difficulties
  • with cognitive impairments
  • with mental impairments
  • with visual impairment or who are blind
  • with a loss of hearing or who are deaf

Do you need assistance to travel by air?

It is important that you sign up for assistance.
You must do this at the latest by up to two days before your flight.
It is best to do this when booking your trip.

Provide a very detailed description
of the type of assistance you will need.

This will help the airline company to organise everything properly.

Do you need assistance with some long walks at the airport?

  • Do you need help getting on and off the plane at the airport?
  • Do you need help walking up and down the stairs to the plane?
  • Do you have more luggage for medical equipment?
  • Are you bringing an assistance dog with you?
  • Do you need a wheelchair on the plane?
  • Is there anything else important to note?

What assistance do airports offer?

Airports must offer the following assistance:

  • People with disabilities and people with reduced mobility
    can report to a service desk at the arrival or departure airport.
  • They will help people to check in luggage.
  • They provide aids so that people can get on the plane
    with a wheelchair or via a lift.

What assistance do airline companies offer?

Airline companies must offer the following assistance free of charge:

  • Transporting medical equipment
  • Transporting up to 2 mobility aids,
    for example wheelchairs, crutches or scooters.
  • Allowing companion dogs on the plane
  • Adjusting seats to meet the needs of people
  • Helping people to walk to the toilets
