Aircraft imported from abroad are subject to certain customs formalities (Art. 18 para. 1 let. d AviO) before they can be approved for airworthiness. The aircraft must be declared for customs clearance at an airport customs office responsible for commercial goods (i.e. a customs airfield) and, depending on the case, import duties must be paid. The airport customs office will issue the Form 15.15 (proof of customs clearance form), which is required by the FOCA for the approval of airworthiness.
