Once the required documents have been submitted in full accordance with the checklists, the registration process is started.

Registration in the Swiss Aircraft Register does not qualify an aircraft for approval of airworthiness.
Refusal of an registration
An application for registration in the Swiss Aircraft Register may be refused if:
- the aircraft concerned fails the airworthiness requirements applicable in Switzerland
- the aircraft concerned does not meet the requirements of the Ordinance on aircraft emissions and cannot be modified to meet them
Approval of Airworthiness
The technical approval of airworthiness is carried out according to standardised processes and specifications, which depending on the aircraft and the type of certification require different prerequisites. Once the detailed aircraft specifications/ types of use have been provided, these requirements are ensured by means of individual checklists.
More information about the commercial use of your aircraft can be found here.
For the certification of aircraft that do not fall within the scope of the basic EASA Regulation (EASA Regulation (EU) Nr. 2018/1139), i.e., non-EASA aircraft, different procedures may apply. While the registration procedure remains the same, the decision on the certification is made on a case-by-case basis.
Note
The annual fee is due upon registration. The invoice is issued at the end of the calendar year.
