Deregistation of an aircraft

If an aircraft is sold outside of Switzerland (export) or permanently withdrawn from service, the aircraft entry must be cancelled from the Swiss Aircraft register by the owner. To do so, please use the deregistration request form for this purpose. If applicable, observe the regulations on signatory powers in your association’s statutes or in the extract from the commercial register for legal entities.

For EASA aircraft, special provisions regarding ARC validation apply to the transfer to another register of an EASA member state. Further information about this can be found on the «application for deregistration».

The aircraft can only be deregistered after the original certificate of registration and the original certificate of airworthiness/ restricted certificate of airworthiness/ the original permit to fly have been returned to the Swiss Aircraft Registry.

If a Certificate of Airworthiness for Export (CofA for Export) is requested on the deregistration request form, the FOCA must carry out a physical inspection of the aircraft before the deregistration. In general, it is recommended to contact the competent authority of the future country of registration prior to deregistering the aircraft in order to clarify the registration requirements.

Note

The annual fee will be sent at the end of the year. If the aircraft is deregistered before 30 June of the current year, half of the annual fee will be credited to the aircraft holder entered in the Swiss Aircraft Register at the time of deregistration.
