The effectiveness of Safety Management Systems (SMS) strongly depends on safety culture, as it is the way safety is perceived, valued and prioritized in an organization. “Safety Culture” is a vital condition to a well functioning SMS and therefore does have a direct impact on safety performance! The SASCON ’11 provided a platform to the Swiss aviation industry to present and exchange examples of “best practices” especially in terms of understanding, measurement and development of a robust safety culture. The program was supported by (inter-)nationally renowned experts in the field.
